BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

assalamualaikum,



on 13th July, i went to this Disney's beauty and the beast play at the hippodrome. honestly, that was my first time walking into that building, and i was quite impressed with the interior decoration.

the hall was quite full. that wednesday afternoon offered the lowest price for the tickets. even that, i bought the cheapest ticket available (what a stingy malay man). anyway, before the show started, i was told that i can move to any empty seat available within the area. i choose one which is rather right in the middle at the front row of the gallery.

well, it is safe to assume that everyone knows the story. but the best part is that this play really turned the 'magical moment' into reality. well, everyone had his/her own childhood experience. so did i. i knew this story when i was rather small, watched the cartoon etc.. it is just so unbelievable to see the same cartoon with walking candle stick, and those enchanted creatures walking on the stage.. well, it brought forward all those memories i used to have when i was a kid. it's so cool...

well, the magic moments were really awesome. the beggar came and transformed into a fairygodmother, the beast transformed into a prince, the songs, everything.. everything was done carefully and without doubt, similar to the scene in the cartoon.

i would say that the best part of the show is that the director did try to immitate the cartoon as closely as possible. Imagine real Belle walking in that blue outfit, and also the yellow dress for the dinner with the beast. and also the Beast's outfit. Gaston's hairstyle.. everything just looks the same..

anyway, i don't know where they are heading to next. but if it happens to be your town, don't miss the show.. it is one of those plays that you should never miss.
